The school enjoyed another successful year. We were very pleased with the SATs results in the summer term. All but one pupil achieved Level 4 or above in English and Science, and all pupils achieved Level 4 in mathematics. We also achieved Healthy Schools Silver Award which recognises the schools commitment to sport and PE, healthy eating and Personal/Social Education. In the autumn term we held a multicultural Arts Week focussed on China and India, with a special assembly for parents with displays of work and drama performance. We continue to run many extra-curricular activities, which include tag-rugby, chess, art and craft and cookery, as well as football, netball, and dance clubs.

The new hall storage project was completed and the corridors and toilets re-decorated over the summer holiday. All classrooms are now fitted with interactive whiteboards. Thanks to the PTA, £1200 worth of books have been purchased for classrooms and around another £1000 worth of teaching resources and PE equipment paid for. We continue to develop the school grounds thanks to parent help on two 'Ground-force' days with a new bark-chip play area, a mini-orchard and housing for rabbits and guinea-pigs. We are currently working on a project to provide a new library area in the old school house and a mosaic entrance sign for the school car park.

Another development has been the launch of ABC or Active Battle Cluster. This is a local network of the six small rural primary schools surrounding Battle. Together we have a number of initiatives to promote new learning opportunities for children. These include curriculum enrichment days in music, science, dance and drama, maths and IT. We hold joint training days for staff to share good practice and expertise. We also aim to promote our village schools in the wider community and attract parent's interest in the benefits of a small school setting. This helps to spread our own good reputation more widely. We need to continue to be successful and attract new pupils to ensure the school's future prosperity.
